Sr. Electrical Engineer - Project Manager

Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Infrastructure Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of complex electrical engineering projects with a focus on power infrastructure systems. This role combines technical leadership with project management responsibilities, overseeing project scope, schedules, budgets, and client relationships while delivering safe, reliable, and innovative engineering solutions. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, the Senior Electrical Engineer ensures projects are completed in accordance with client expectations, applicable codes, and industry standards across utility, industrial, commercial, mission-critical, and institutional facilities.
Essential Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Management
Lead electrical engineering projects from proposal through design, construction, and project closeout.
Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, coordinating project objectives, expectations, and deliverables.
Monitor project progress and proactively manage scope, schedule, and budget to ensure successful project delivery.
Technical Leadership
Lead the design and review of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical power distribution systems.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and designers throughout all phases of a project.
Review engineering calculations, specifications, construction documents, and technical reports to ensure quality and accuracy.
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, client standards, and industry best practices.
Client & Business Development
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, utilities, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Support proposal development, fee estimates, and business development efforts.
Identify opportunities for repeat business and assist in expanding client relationships.
Project Coordination
Collaborate with mechanical, structural, civil, technology, and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Coordinate with utilities, regulatory agencies, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
Support construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site observations, and participating in punch list activities.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Ensure projects comply with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC, utility requirements, and client specifications.
Promote quality assurance and quality control standards throughout project execution.
Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Power Infrastructure team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with an emphasis on power systems and power infrastructure.
Proven experience managing complex engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships.
Strong knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems.
Experience with power system studies, including short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, load flow, and voltage drop analysis.
Proficiency with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, or similar power system analysis software.
Thorough understanding of NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC, utility standards, and applicable industry codes.
Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to mentor engineering staff and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
Experience with utility, industrial, mission-critical, institutional, or large commercial projects.
Experience with Protection & Controls (P&C), SCADA systems, and utility coordination.
Experience with substation, transmission, and medium-voltage infrastructure projects.
Business development, proposal writing, and client relationship management experience.
Cost estimating and project financial management experience.
Familiarity with relay programming (SEL, GE, ABB, or similar) is a plus.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
