Federal Government / Healthcare / Data Centers & Mission Critical
Grand Junction VA Medical Center EHRM Data Center
Department of Veterans Affairs / Grand Junction, Colorado
Our team provided full MEPT (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology) design and construction support services for the expansion and complete renovation of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) space; transforming it into a secure, high-availability data center to support the VA’s Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) initiative.
The design included advanced server infrastructure with in-row cooling, hot/cold aisle containment, structured cabling, and clean agent fire suppression. Power systems were upgraded to meet 2N and N+1 redundancy standards; including new generators and UPS systems in compliance with ISTS and national data center guidelines.
Physical security systems were integrated to meet Physical Security and Resiliency Design Manual (PSRDM) and local law enforcement requirements; including blast-resistant construction, access control, and intrusion detection. The facility was tied into the campus-wide EHRM fiber and TR upgrade initiative via a redundant telecom utility feed and connection to Building 33 demarcation.
Phased construction and demolition planning ensured zero downtime throughout the project. The full design package included drawings, specifications, narratives, engineering calculations, cost estimates, and review responses.
Spectrum Engineering completed this project before the merger.
