The Leonardo Museum

This renovation and remodel project of the existing 118,000 SF Salt Lake City Library created a stunning transformation to provide a home for “The Leonardo”, an experiential art, science, and technology center/museum.

Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City at Library Square, the project is designed to provide experiences that inspire creativity and innovation. The building includes large atrium spaces, rooftop event space, exhibition areas, labs, interactive displays, and an auditorium/theater. The Leonardo is part of an emerging city center that already draws millions of visitors each year for cultural and educational events.

As the electrical engineering consultant for the project, our team provided full-service electrical engineering for the renovation, which included removing and replacing all electrical service, power, lighting, fire alarm, and card access systems. As part of the electrical service replacement, the existing pole-style MV transformers were replaced with a new single pad-mounted, oil-filled MV transformer. Our design efforts for the project provided a high level of sustainability and energy efficiency, which contributed greatly to LEED® Gold certification.
