Breakthrough Energy Efficiency: Dee Events Center MEP Upgrade
The 12,000-seat Dee Events Center at Weber State University recently underwent an $18.2 million MEP modernization focused on sustainability, reliability, and long-term performance. Lynk Engineers led the design effort, which included a new ground-source geothermal system (with a massive, 285-count geothermal bore field beneath the center’s east parking lot) to support the university’s electrification and carbon-reduction goals. Through careful phasing, the facility remained operational for much of construction, ensuring continued use for community and sporting events. The Wildcats didn’t miss a game!
Heating Buildings Smarter: What Decarbonization Really Means
Decarbonization often comes up in conversations about buildings and energy, but what does it actually look like in practice? Lynk Engineers covers the basics: what decarbonization means for buildings, how it affects the electrical grid, and how a University of Utah project shows what thoughtful mechanical design can achieve.
Heat pumps work great on paper. Real buildings are more complicated.
Lynk Engineers' Jarrett Capstick, PE, LEED AP, joins the Spring Building Performance Forum on May 6 as a featured panelist on heat pump electrification in commercial buildings. The session covers real-world performance gaps, system sizing, cold-climate challenges, and commissioning best practices. Hosted by AIA COTE and BEC-UT at the University of Utah.
